On June 15, 2001, Hindi cinema saw the simultaneous release of Lagaan and Gadar - Ek Prem Katha, two films that were to become milestones in different ways. The Sunny Deol-Amisha Patel- Amrish Puri-starrer did business in multiples of the other release and went on to join the biggest blockbusters of all time.
